Hello to everyone. I am sitting here contemplating what to say as this is my first blog. I started this blog because my daughter and I opened a consignment store in New Hampshire on April 1st of 2009. We felt compelled to help people in these times of financial difficulty and believe providing affordable family necessities is a good place to start.

As I began thinking of the name of this blog site and tried to add my personal touch to it (which I still haven’t figured out) my son called to tell me he just entered the group of the unemployed.  No special requirements to meet the criteria, just be a hard working American and you have a high probability of becoming a member. He is the third person this week, that I know, who has lost their job through no fault of their own. Which reinforces the need for consignment stores and affordable consumer goods.

We opened our 1200 square foot store and began inspecting and pricing clothing and other items. We waited for our first customer and began our business. Over  the past seven months our customers have become our friends and we’ve watched our youngest recipients of our clothing be born and grow.

We opened our store understanding we had a learning curve in running a business. However, it’s not business we are learning but the true compassion the American people  have for one another.  A teacher stops in our store and shares the story of a young boy that has no winter coat and is able to buy one for $5.00.  A neighbor lends a hand and provides a new layette for a newborn baby. Grandparents excited to tell us the news of a new grandbaby begin buying all the items needed for this new bundle of joy. These are just a few of the life stories we hear on a daily basis.

I will close todays blog with this. We look forward to meeting more friends and listening to more stories, stories that make us laugh and stories that remind us of those that need our help. Thank you for trusting in us.
